Coaching
for High Performance
Target
Audience
This course is designed for newly appointed managers, or
any manager who is challenged with finding the right words
or the right tone in which to deliver both positive or negative
feedback to employees or peers.
Course
Description (One-two days)
According
to the 1999 best seller, "First, Break All the Rules,"
by Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman, people don't leave
companies, they leave managers. The manager is the critical
factor in determining an employee's success on the job.
This
intensive, yet very practical, "hands-on" workshop
drills down to the very critical management skill of delivering
effective feedback. Participants learn how to set clear
expectations and communicate those expectations to their
subordinates. They practice delivering feedback, both
positive and negative, and determine the method and frequency
needed to communicate this feedback.
Participants
are given practical tips for finding out what motivates
their subordinates and learn how to use this knowledge when developing
performance objectives and improvement plans.
Through
the use of company-specific case studies and role-plays,
participants will practice:
- Setting
clear expectations
- Determining
what motivates subordinates
- Delivering
constructive feedback, both positive and negative, to
subordinates, peers and supervisors
- Coaching
for improved performance
- Handling
performance problems
